Our mission is to help start and grow the next generation of great technology companies.  We opened the entrepreneur-focused Emerging Enterprise Center (“EEC”) in 2006 to build on Foley Hoag’s long-standing expertise representing entrepreneurs, technology start-ups and investors.  At the EEC, we work closely with technology companies through their entire lifecycle, from inception through financing, growth and maturity.  In addition, the EEC team and the hundreds of events we host each year provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors to learn and connect with potential partners. 

To us, being lawyers is about more than just providing clients with the best legal advice, it is about helping our clients to succeed.  We aim to create a relationship with you where you think of us not only as your legal advisor, but also as a sounding board for your business strategies.  We routinely connect our clients to financial and business partners.  We are proud to be a sponsor and an active partner of the vibrant New England entrepreneurial community that has brought so many great companies and technologies to the world. 

Our passion for working with entrepreneurs and technology companies dates to the early years of our firm and is part of our DNA.  Since representing Cullinet Software in the first ever IPO of a software company, we have represented numerous start-ups in a variety of technology industries, including software, high-tech, digital media, mobile, medical devices, biotech, clean tech and renewables.  Today, Foley Hoag represents hundreds of technology companies across these industries.  Many of our largest national and international clients started with us as small start-ups.

We are particularly sensitive to the capital constraints, uncertainty and special challenges that our entrepreneurial clients face.  Working with Foley Hoag allows you, the entrepreneur, to work with a start-up lawyer who has unmatched access to deep experience and leading specialists within areas that impact start-ups including, to name a few, I.P. protection, angel and venture financings, securities regulation and employment law.
