What is dual licensing?
The term "dual licensing" refers to making the same item of software available on different license terms. A number of software companies have adopted a business model whereby they will make open source software available at no cost (or low cost) under a copyleft license, but they will charge a more significant license fee if the licensee wants to purchase a less restrictive license that allows the licensee to build a proprietary software product that is based on the original software.
